Play Therapy

Engage in the journey of play therapy, where children explore emotions and heal through creativity.

Let their unique stories unfold in a safe space with every playful moment.

What is play therapy?

Play Therapy not only helps children to recover from difficult life experiences, but in doing so, also helps children to be more receptive to learning and therefore enables their educational needs to be better met.

Play therapy is a developmentally appropriate therapeutic approach for children that harnesses their natural method of communication—play. It allows children to navigate challenging experiences in a safe and supportive environment.

How do sessions work?

Play therapy takes place in a private, child-friendly and confidential setting where the play therapist sees the child on a one-to-one basis. Sessions take place once a week for 50 minutes.

Flexible hours are available.

Between 20-30+ sessions are usually advised based on the child’s need (which can be discussed), with a review after every 6-8 sessions. Children generally need a minimum of 6 sessions to prepare for an ending.

Where are sessions delivered?

I am a mobile play therapist able to travel to the child’s school setting to provide play therapy sessions.

Sessions can also be delivered in the play therapy room at Unit 12, Winnall Valley Road, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 0LD.

There is free onsite parking available at Unit 12 and a waiting area for parents and caregivers.

How much does it cost?

Prices depend upon location, number of sessions and other factors. Please enquire for prices.

I am able to provide a full or half-day for schools wishing me to provide sessions for 2 or more children, please discuss this if interested.

Will I be kept informed?

Review meetings will be arranged between the parent/carer and play therapist every 6-8 sessions. Children will be aware these meetings are taking place and will be asked if there is anything they would like the Play Therapist to share with parents/carers. During these meetings, only general themes and progress will be discussed due to the confidential nature of the therapeutic relationship.

Specific details would only be disclosed to other parties immediately when there is a safeguarding concern about a risk to the child or others. This safeguarding policy will be made clear to the child, parents and any relevant professional before play therapy sessions begin.
